Emirates E&I is progressing steadily towards being awarded the “Road Lighting with LED Power Saving System – Phase 2” project in Abu Dhabi. The project involves the replacement of 133,473 existing high-pressure sodium (HPS) and metal halide (MH) lamps with energy-efficient LED luminaires and LCU. In addition to this, the scope of work also includes the installation of a wireless communication network, traffic management and road diversion works. The project is a significant step towards enhancing the sustainability and energy efficiency of Abu Dhabi’s infrastructure. The installation of these LED luminaires is expected to reduce energy consumption by up to 70% compared to the existing HPS/MH luminaires. Moreover, the LEDs have a longer lifespan and require less maintenance, which will result in lower operational costs over the years. The project will cover several major highways and roads in Abu Dhabi, and the replacement of the existing luminaires with the new LED luminaires and LCU will take place across 5 phases (3 months each). The installation of the wireless communication network will enable real-time remote monitoring and control of the luminaires, allowing for efficient energy management and maintenance. The project is slated for completion in 15 months and involves a manpower team of 150, heavy equipment including folk lifts, man lifts, cranes, trucks / trailers, and the likes.
